The scope of FDA’s regulatory authority is very broad. FDA’s responsibilities are closely related to those of several other government agencies. In general, FDA regulates: Foods, Drugs, Biologics, Medical Devices, Electronic Products that give off radiation, Cosmetics, Veterinary Products, Tobacco Products.

FDA Guidance documents represent the agency’s current thinking on a topic. They do not create or confer any rights for or on any person and do not operate to bind FDA or the public.
